FORENSIC IDENTIFICATION OF SUSPECTS PHENOTYPE THROUGH DNA MOLECULES
Abstract Criminals or perpetrators of crimes tend to leave traces, such as biological samples, containing genetic information that may aid in the identification of the suspect and consequent resolution of the case. These samples, however, had only been used to confirm the presence of a particular person on the scene or even for comparison with samples collected during the police investigation. A new concept has been implemented in order to improve the capture of possible attackers from the analysis of the DNA molecule. The prediction of visible external characteristics, called DNA Phenotyping, allows a greater precision in human identification, being an excellent tool for use in the forensic environment. Key words: Forensic polymorphisms, SNP, DNA phenotyping, DNA facial characteristics.
